Chapter 1 – The Void

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Every individual is a creation of the solar system,
The suns are the offspring of the great creator, lingering solo in the darkness,
The suns are the microscopic children that are about to take seed inside a womb,
The suns are the flame that the opposite sexes ignite within eachother,
The suns are optic nerve of ancients, taking in all that they’ve seen
Who can grasp their raging sparkle and shine?
Staring into the illuminated void,
You realize you are searching for yourself.
To come face to face with the great creator,
you realize how timeless and endless we are.

I have been tasked with documenting that which transpired during our epic yet terrifying Second Voyage into the Void. Despite the purpose of my mission being that of an observer, how would I have known that my destiny would become entangled with this dark and mysterious part of the galaxy, be it known as the Void or the Wilderness, a place having many names, bestowed upon to it by humans who had visited there, as it was a darkness, but a darkness embellished in hellfire, because of all that took place there, all between and around the stars that inhabited it. The mission’s purpose was to save this stellar wasteland from the calamity which had been be folding in front of the rest of the galaxy, and could have a chain reaction to other sectors.

While my job in this operation was planned to be marginal, the job of others would be more glorious in it’s undertaking, the best of our pilots were tasked with it, pilots such as Bukefal and Ata, and Malarky of Pruddesh, as well as rising stars not as well known as these on the piloting scene, such as Violeta Bru, and my daughter Manilla di Marxengels Rochester. As other missions designed by the Consortium of Mathematical Magicians, the Second Journey into The Void was meant to create a colony there that could monitor the events more closely and intimately, to expand the Consortium’s reach, to find a lost planet known as Bannafril, to show the religious leaders of our society a purpose meant to unite them in a common cause and present to them a new meaning for existence, as well as to cure the calamity caused by war with another empire in which stars overheat and explode into supernovas, before the calamity spreads like a cancer to the rest of the galaxy.

All pilots who venture out into the Void are forced to take an oath that ensures this is what they will do once they get there. But since human beings can be corrupted, ulterior motives may arise along the way. Many wanted to try their chances in being able to unravel the mystery, to be part of history, to uncover some hidden extraterrestrial treasure, to experience an adventure or for the power that is imbued on the pilots as an elite class of society, like Earth’s old astronauts once had as a status among their fellow human beings.
